This powerful herb is scientifically known as Clinacanthus nutans. Its origin is in Malaysia, India and other countries in Southeast Asia. This superfood contains vitamins and minerals. Flavonoids is the bioactive composition of the plant. This herb is also used for detox.

Sabah Snake Grass or SSG is popular as antioxidant. This herb is used as traditional medicine to help strengthen the body to fight ailments such as diabetes, kidney stones, anemia, shingles, jaundice, viral infection and skin inflammation caused by insect bites.

Despite its many uses, SSG is widely known as an anti-cancer in traditional medicine in Southeast Asia. While studies show that SSG is not effective in killing cancer cells, it can control the growth of cancer cells because its antioxidant property traps free radicals. This prevents the formations of tumor cells that invade the DNA. Free radicals cause severe oxidation in the body which cause many diseases. 

My cousin-in-law, Nita, a breast cancer survivor has been drinking SSG and proved it helpful to the healing process.

SSG can be taken as a tea or as a shake. It should not be eaten raw because it can have a side effect.

Here is the suggested tea intake:
Pick 30 leaves. Wash leaves by leaving it in water with salt for 30 minutes. Rinse.
Boil 1 liter of water. Add the clean leaves in boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes.
Drink 3 to 4 glasses per day.

Here is the suggested shake intake:
Pour ½ cup of water in a blender.
Add ice.
Add ¼ lemon to prevent oxidation.
Wash leaves by leaving it in water with salt for 30 minutes. Rinse. Add in blender. Blend. Drink immediately.

For cancer patients, 250 leaves are needed per day.

Sabah Snake Grass is easy to plant through cuttings. It is a bush that grows fast. It grows well in partly shaded areas. SSG is a superfood and wonder food - a gift of nature to mankind.
