How To Care For Your Herbal and Herbs

PLANTS SPEAK THROUGH THEIR LEAVES:
A. Drying, wilting or turning yellowish – lack of water or too much sun.
The plant starts drying up when most the roots are already out and lying on dry cemented flooring where there is no soil nutrition.
To return the roots back to the soil in the pot either:
1. Destroy the pot or;
2. Soften the soil with lots of water then carefully loosen the roots that remained in the soil by digging with a stick or whatever is available.
3. Then, pull up the whole plant and place in a bigger pot.
HOW TO WATER PLANTS:
Common complaint of plant enthusiasts is that the plant just dried up despite regular watering.
Tips:
1. Make sure water reaches the bottom of the pot.
2. When hose is used,water thoroughly. Sometimes only the surface is watered.
B. Leaves have no shine or lack luster – needs to be fertilized once or twice a month.

1. Add egg shells (let egg white drippings fall into the soil). Pour rice, fish, and meat washing with water in your garden.
2. To prevent erosion, place Spagamus or crushed clay pots at the bottom.

Mix leaves, vegetable cuttings, peelings, spoiled food, etc. with soil daily.
For pet waste: Mix Kusot with soil to absorb odor. Kusot is available in wood works and lumberyards.
Procedure:
1. Place organic materials inside sack or container with holes to allow oxygen.
2. Water the compost weekly and cover.
3. Don’t kill the worms, their manure makes the best fertilizer. Also, do not kill the Singsing Pari colored black and brown, which are not hairy and always curl. They are beneficial worms.
4. After more than a month, the fertilizer can be harvested. Those that did not decompose (pulverize) can be returned to the container to be processed with the upcoming compost.
5. Mix organic fertilizer with top soil once or twice a month.
Mulching
Put leaves on top of the soil with plant. This will prevent too much absorption of water through evaporation. Do not mix fresh leaves with soil.
